Dear Customers and Friends,

Winfried Hamich, aged 70, died peacefully on 5th June 2009. He took an active interest in the developments inside the Heating&Plumbing Industry right up to a few days before he died of a brief but serious illness. His last work was writing the comment for the KWD archive, the last big project he had launched, and he was happy to live until he could witness its completion.

We want to thank all of you for the compassion and sympathy which you have extended to Winfried and to us during his last few weeks.

KWD Publishing House will be continued by Winfried’s children under the guidance of his daughter Jutta Hix née Hamich.

The funeral will be held at  Darmstadt, Waldfriedhof Cemetery on Tuesday 16th June at 1.00 p.m.

Russian oil and gas giant Lukoil Group has revealed long-term plans to construct a major $5bn petrochemicals complex, including polyolefin resin production in Russia’s Stavropol region. The project, scheduled to be launched later this year, is designed to include a 600,000 tpa polypropylene production unit as well as a gas processing plant and a power generation unit providing electricity for the complex.

The number of newly built single-family homes on the market shrank to 297,000 units in April, thinning supplies to their lowest level since May 2001, according to government figures released today. The report noted that the pace of new-home sales held virtually even with the previous month, at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 352,000 units.
“The fact that the new-homes inventory is now below the 300,000 mark shows that builders have made substantial progress in winnowing down their backlogs to a much more comfortable level,” noted Joe Robson, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and a home builder from Tulsa, Okla. April’s results mark two consecutive years of monthly declines in the number of unsold new homes.

As builders and remodelers retool their businesses in a tight credit market and recapture the interest of jittery consumers, this spring is the greenest yet for the nation’s home building industry, according to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). “We’ve said for a while that green building is a bright spot in a down market,” said NAHB Chairman Joe Robson, a home builder and developer in Tulsa, Okla. “However, the growth of the NAHB National Green Building Program exceeds even our most optimistic expectations.”

The REVEL Company has been the only manufacturer in the world so far to find technical solution for the production of radiator connectors, which is performed on the basis of a moulded-in insert and subsequent re-pressing of the ring directly in the manufacturing facility. The system is also completed with brass pressing knee-joints for surface piping. Designation of pressed joints as “non-demountable” is not completely accurate since the joints may be disassembled using hot-air gun and the brass fittings are reusable. Pipes damaged by hot air are cut off. With regard to possible damage by high temperatures it is forbidden to reuse PPSU fittings. In common building practice the bends are replaced in all-plastic piping by reinforcements of elbows, which means lower labour intensity and significant financial savings for contractors and significantly lower pressure losses in systems.
